Diversity in Sustainability: NDL Event 2023

On 5 July 2023, the much-anticipated "Diversity in Sustainability" event took place at Green Port Venlo, organised by Nederland Distributie Land (NDL). This groundbreaking event brought together members of NDL to discuss the latest developments in logistics and sustainability. With innovative ideas, inspiring keynote speakers and a diverse group of participants, the programme offered insights into the opportunities for sustainability, both inside and outside the transport field. The event promised to be an important milestone in the Netherlands' ongoing efforts to become a sustainable distribution country.

Opening presentation and welcome at Supply Chain Valley Venlo.

Sea and Shore is a proud participant of Nederland Distributie Land (NDL). Therefore, we were delighted to be present at this inspiring event. It not only gave us the opportunity to make valuable contacts, but also to establish new partnerships with companies that share our vision. Building partnerships is essential to achieve a more sustainable future together. By joining forces with other leading industry players, we can jointly promote and accelerate sustainability initiatives. This was also a central message conveyed at the event.

A highlight of the event was the speech by Annemarie Jorritsma, a leading personality. Her insights and vision on the future of logistics and sustainability were particularly valuable. Her speech emphasised the crucial importance of cooperation between government, industry and other stakeholders to realise sustainable solutions. Other distinguished speakers, such as Pim Loef of Schneider Electric and Julien Tremblin of TerraCycle, also shared their own experiences with sustainability. The prevailing idea was that sustainable thinking should be at the core of every company.

Sea and Shore and Sustainability

At Sea and Shore, we strive to embed sustainability integrally into our operations, both now and in the future. We have a fruitful partnership with fuelsaver4diesel, whereby our partners can benefit from a diesel additive that reduces emissions by up to 15%. This liquid is suitable for different forms of transport, including short sea, deep sea and large transport companies we work with. Not only do our partners contribute to protecting the environment, but they also save on diesel consumption and particulate emissions.

In addition, we use solar panels on our warehouses, harnessing solar energy and making our energy consumption more sustainable. We also recognise the importance of reducing road transport and promoting alternative transport options. Therefore, we use shortsea and barge options, allowing us to avoid more kilometres of road transport.

To reduce the number of transport movements, we use 4PL turntables. This enables us to create more efficient transport schedules and reduce the number of transport movements required. Moreover, we offer our customers the option of using our XXL locations. This allows smaller shipments to be stored and transported in groupage more efficiently, reducing the number of transport movements and in-house storage facilities.

With these various initiatives and forward-looking approach, we aim to promote sustainability in the logistics sector and reduce our impact on the environment. We are determined to continuously innovate and work with our partners to achieve a more sustainable future, in which we can combine economic growth with environmentally conscious action.

Sea and Shore Services is an advocate of sustainability and will continue to work with our customers and partners to implement green solutions and make a positive change. Together, we can transform the logistics sector and contribute to a more sustainable and resilient future. With the inspiration of Annemarie Jorritsma and other visionary speakers, we will continue with determination on our path to sustainable success.
