At Sea and Shore Services, we pride ourselves on being more than just a logistics provider; we strive to be a partner in sustainable, responsible supply-chain management. That’s why we’re proud to announce our support and collaboration with Trees For Transport. This forward-looking initiative aims to transform deep-sea shipping into a more environmentally conscious practice.

Why Trees For Transport?
Trees For Transport is a project dedicated to reducing the environmental footprint of deep-sea logistics. Their mission is to mitigate climate change by offering carbon credits based on transport emissions, enabling companies to calculate their CO₂ output, offset it, and receive a verified certificate of their environmental contribution.
By investing in carbon credits through Trees For Transport, businesses help fund global environmental and reforestation projects, turning sea freight into a force for good.
What This Means for Sea and Shore Services
As a modern logistics company — operating from the heart of the Rotterdam port and serving clients worldwide — Sea and Shore is uniquely positioned to influence sustainable practices in global supply chains.
By embracing Trees For Transport’s carbon-offset program, we offer our clients:
Transparent carbon accounting — Reliable estimation of deep-sea transport emissions, enabling companies to understand their footprint.
Carbon offsetting & impact — By purchasing carbon credits, clients support meaningful environmental projects worldwide and help combat climate change.
Integration with existing services — As part of our full-service logistics portfolio (freight forwarding, customs, warehousing, tracking, and documentation), the carbon-offset option becomes a seamless add-on.
How the Collaboration Works
Emission calculation — Using Trees For Transport’s methodology, Sea and Shore will compute the average CO₂ emissions for each deep-sea transport we handle.
Carbon credit issuance — Based on the emissions, carbon credits are generated, which correspond to the amount of CO₂ offset. Trees For Transport currently values its VCC (Verified Carbon Credit) at 35 USD per ton of CO₂.
Offset & certificate — Clients who opt in can purchase these credits. In return, they receive a unique certificate verifying their carbon offset — a clear, credible statement of their commitment to sustainability.
Funding projects — The proceeds support environmental initiatives worldwide, such as reforestation and sustainable development, making a tangible positive impact.
The Broader Impact: Why This Matters
Combatting climate change: Global transport (especially maritime shipping) accounts for a significant share of greenhouse gas emissions. By offsetting and reducing emissions, we actively help protect the planet.
Sustainable supply chains: More and more companies are held accountable for their environmental footprint. Through this collaboration, we help our clients meet sustainability goals and regulatory requirements.
Corporate responsibility & reputation: By offering greener logistics solutions, Sea and Shore reinforces its image as a responsible, modern forwarder. Helping clients and partners position themselves as environmentally aware businesses.
Long-term industry change: By supporting Trees For Transport, we are part of an industry-wide shift toward more ethical and sustainable logistics, a movement we believe will define the future of supply-chain management.
Our Wider Sustainability Strategy
Supporting Trees For Transport is only one part of our broader environmental commitment. At Sea and Shore Services, we are also transforming the way our infrastructure operates.
We are actively developing current and future warehouses that operate entirely off-grid, powered by a combination of:
Solar panels
Wind energy
Thermal energy storage (heat and cold storage)
This ensures our facilities run on 100% renewable energy, significantly reducing our carbon footprint and increasing long-term resilience.
Beyond energy, our warehouse environments are built to support local ecosystems through:
Biodiversity-focused planting around our sites
Use of sustainable or recyclable building materials
Rainwater harvesting systems are used in and around the warehouses to maintain green areas and preserve biodiversity
Water retention, natural planting, and circular resource use help make our logistics hubs environmentally restorative rather than extractive.
Join Us on the Green Journey
